Bernard Muller is the Technical PI of the CANDOR programme at the Scott-Morgan Foundation and a co-founder of SMF Labs in Paris. An ALS patient and researcher, he conducts all of his work — coding, data analysis and scientific writing — using only gaze-tracking. After his ALS diagnosis he co-founded Project MinE, the world's largest whole-genome sequencing study of ALS, and went on to found Treeway, where he led ALS drug candidates into Phase 3 clinical trials. As his own speech deteriorated, Bernard turned his skills to a problem he lives daily: the failure of speech recognition to understand dysarthric speech.
