Dr Henk-Jan Westeneng
UMC Utrecht, Netherlands
Henk-Jan Westeneng is a neurologist at the University Medical Center Utrecht. His research focuses on neuroimaging, epidemiology, and disease prediction in ALS, with a particular emphasis on identifying imaging markers of the prodromal phase of the disease. His work integrates advanced neuroimaging with clinical and genetic data to detect phenoconversion, improve early diagnosis, and enable patient stratification. Through international collaborations, he has helped advance imaging biomarkers for ALS and their application in clinical research. His plenary presentation will highlight recent advances in imaging prodromal ALS and their implications for future preventive trials.
