Professor Janice Robertson

Dr. Janice Robertson is a Professor and the James Hunter Family Chair in ALS Research at the Tanz Centre, University of Toronto, Canada. With over 25 years of experience in ALS research, she earned her PhD from King’s College London, UK, and trained as a Wellcome Trust Fellow at McGill University. A former MND Association-funded postdoctoral researcher, Dr. Robertson, has significantly contributed to understanding ALS pathogenesis and identifying therapeutic targets, co-founding Neuropeutics Inc. In her talk, she will discuss how C9orf72 loss contributes to synaptic dysfunction in ALS, and that a ‘second hit’ is required for disease manifestation.
