
Dr William Seeley

Dr. Seeley is a behavioral neurologist and neuroscientist, whose research regards how and why neurodegenerative diseases target specific neurons within specific brain regions. His laboratory focuses on frontotemporal dementia (FTD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Alzheimer’s disease and uses a blend of molecular, anatomical, bioinformatic, and neuroimaging approaches. In recognition of his work, Dr. Seeley received a fellowship from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in 2011 and the Potamkin Prize in 2023.
Dr. Seeley holds the Zander Family Distinguished Professorship in Neurology, with a dual appointment in Pathology, at UCSF. He is the Founding Director of the UCSF Neurodegenerative Disease Brain Bank.
