Dr. Blackstone is Julieanne Dorn Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and the inaugural Scientific Director of the Mass General Brigham Neuroscience Institute. Until 2025, he was Movement Disorders Division Chief and Vice Chair for Research in Neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Earlier, he served two decades in the NINDS Intramural Research Program. His research group investigates mechanisms underlying the hereditary spastic paraplegias, from cell biology through clinical studies. He is former Vice President of the American Neurological Association and an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, Association of American Physicians, and National Academy of Medicine.
