Prof Marcondes França is a neurologist specialized in neuromuscular disorders and ALS. He currently is the chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in Brazil. His group has been actively involved in clinical care and research related to ALS. The main focus of this research involves the delineation of the genetic basis of ALS in the Brazilian population and the investigation of imaging-based biomarkers for ALS. He has authored or co-authored more than 250 full papers in the area of neuromuscular disorders and neurogenetics. He is part of the Neuroimaging Society in ALS and more recently, was one of the founding members of the Latin American Consortium for ALS (ELATAM).
