Dr Lewandowski conducts research to explain the mechanisms of the incurable brain disease - the ALS neurodegeneration. His group has shown that brain vascular fibroblasts are activated long before the onset of neuron degeneration and neuroinflammation in ALS (Månberg et al. Nature Medicine 2021). Dr Lewandowski's future goals aim to create therapeutic modalities that could redefine the mechanisms of ALS clinical therapy.
