Authors may submit an abstract for consideration in one of three categories: oral, poster or work in progress/care practice (WIP/CP) poster presentations. This year’s Symposium will be held in-person with the option to watch a selection of talks virtually. All oral presentations and posters will be presented on site at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego, USA.

Submit an abstract
Submissions are limited to two abstracts per presenting author. We advise that you register and enter the abstract submission system well in advance of the deadline to ensure that any difficulties can be resolved in time.

- Submit an abstract (max 450 words) in the abstract submission portal in advance of the deadline.
- Presenting Authors must register and accept their presentation for the Symposium before 5 September 2025 to secure attendance or abstract will be withdrawn.
Once the submission deadline has passed, abstracts will be reviewed by the Symposium Programme Committee. We will inform you of the decision in August and if you have been accepted, we will provide further instructions on how to submit your poster material (PDF) from September (see key dates below).

Abstract Submission Information and FAQs
Authors will be asked to assign a theme to their abstract in the abstract submission portal. The themes are as follows:

Submissions are limited to two abstracts per presenting author.
Authors do not need to register before submitting an abstract however we do recommend registering and applying for a VISA as early as possible. Refunds will be available in the event of an abstract being rejected.
Presenting authors will be required to pay the appropriate in-person registration fee by 5 September or their abstract will be withdrawn. Formal acceptance of an abstract is conditional upon payment of the full registration fee.
Abstracts will be published in an online open access supplement of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Degeneration. This abstract book will be published online on the Taylor and Francis website and will be found via the Symposium website (symposium.mndassociation.org). Abstracts accepted as ‘WIP/CP’ will be published on the MND Association’s Symposium website.
By submitting an abstract, you consent to give us the license to act on your behalf with the Taylor & Francis group to publish your abstract in the symposium supplement of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Degeneration.
WIP/CP stands for work in progress/care practice. WIP/CP is defined as: preliminary work (little or no data/results), care practice or case studies.
Yes, abstracts may be submitted even if previously presented at a national/international meeting.
Once the submission deadline has passed, abstracts will be reviewed by the Symposium Programme Committee. We will inform you of the decision in August and if you have been accepted. Presenters who have accepted their presentation slot and registered before 5 September will get a second notification in September which will include specific presentation theme/session, time and date information. Oral presenters will receive a document to help create slides. Poster presenters will receive details and instructions on poster guidelines and how to submit their poster material (poster PDF) to our virtual platform for our virtual delegates before the upload deadline of 17 November 2025.
