Professor Shigeki Kuzuhara

Shigeki Kuzuhara graduated from School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo in 1970, and became licenced MD. He got the Board of Neurology in 1975 and PhD, the University of Tokyo in 1982. He was invited as Chairman and Professor, Department of Neurology, Mie University School of Medicine in 1990 and was appointed the Director of the Mie University Hospital in 2001. Here, he rediscovered high incidence of ALS and found pathologically verified parkinsonism-dementia complex (PDC) in the Kii peninsula.
He served as President of Japanese Society of Neurology from 2006 to 2010. His work mainly deals with clinical and neuropathological aspects of Kii ALS/PDC.
