Dr Melinda S Kavanaugh

Dr Kavanaugh is an Associate Professor in Social Work and Principal Investigator for research on children and youth caregivers across neurological disorders, funded by the National Institutes for Health (NIH), and The ALS Association. Dr Kavanaugh has developed interventions for young caregivers in the US and South Africa, including YCare, an evidence-based youth caregiving skills and support protocol.

Dr Kavanaugh is the author of research-based ALS/MND books, including a graphic novel for children, and an ALS/MND family guide. Dr Kavanaugh is a content expert advisor for the National Alliance for Caregiving and is a reviewer for health and youth focused journals.
