Associate Professor Kenneth Rodgers
University of Technology Sydney, Australia

Ken Rodgers trained as a pharmacist in the UK and spent ten years in the pharmaceutical industry. After completing his PhD studies at the University of Sydney, he returned to the UK as a Pfizer postdoctoral fellow. He continued his research into atherosclerosis at the Heart Research Institute in Sydney.

An interest in understanding oxidised protein metabolism in vitro led to an exploration of the ability of non-encoded amino acids to become mistakenly incorporated into proteins. Amino acid ‘mimicry’ and the potential consequences for human health is the focus of his Neurotoxin Research group at the University of Technology Sydney.
