Professor Sir Jonathan Asbridge

Sir Jonathan Asbridge is Chief Clinical Officer at Health Care at Home. Jonathan has worked in health care for 40 years both as a clinical nurse and manager from the ward to ministerial appointed government positions. Jonathan was the inaugural President of the Nursing and Midwifery Council leading the organisation through its formation and the implementation of the Nursing and Midwifery Order 2001.
Jonathan is a critical care nurse by background and chaired the review of adult critical care nursing in 1999 which significantly contributed to the development of critical care across the UK as part of the comprehensive critical care review report which was published in 2000. Jonathan has held Chief Nurse appointments at three UK teaching hospitals in Oxford, Cambridge and Bart’s. He trained at the Nightingale School St Thomas’ Hospital.
Jonathan is the President of the European Society of Person-Centred Care and Deputy Chairman of the Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. In April 2019 Jonathan was appointed to Senior Visiting Clinical Professor, European Institute for Person Centred Health and Social Care, University of West London, UK.
