Professor Erik P Pioro

Erik Pioro, MD, PhD, FRCPC, is Director of the Section of ALS and Related Disorders at Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland, Ohio, where he specializes in the care and research of such patients. He performs clinical trials and uses big data and neuroimaging techniques to study pathogenic mechanisms of ALS and PBA. Dr Pioro received his MD from the University of Calgary (Alberta, Canada), DPhil at the University of Oxford (UK), completed his neurology residency at McGill University (Montreal), and specialized in EMG/neuromuscular diseases at Cleveland Clinic.
He has published numerous journal articles and book chapters on ALS and other neurologic disorders. Dr Pioro is the recipient of grants from the NIH, ALS Association and the Packard Center, and holds the Barry Winovich Endowed Chair for ALS Research at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute.
