"Defective RNA metabolism in ALS: TDP-43 loss of function and stress granule dynamics"
Dr. Christine Vande Velde is Professor in the Department of Neurosciences at the Université de Montréal and Université de Montréal Hospital Research Center (CRCHUM). She obtained her Ph.D. (Biochemistry) from the University of Manitoba and subsequently pursued post-doctoral studies at UCSD/Ludwig Institute.
Dr. Vande Velde’s team is dedicated to the cell biology underlying ALS and aims to elucidate biologically valid therapeutic targets and biomarkers. Her current work demonstrates TDP-43 to be a critical regulator of stress granule dynamics.
Dr. Vande Velde currently holds a prestigious FRQS Senior Research Scholar Award and serves on several national and international grant panels. She is a Director of the Board of ALS Canada, and Co-Chair of their Scientific and Medical Advisory Council.
