John Hopkins Medicine, USA
Philip C. Wong, Ph.D., Professor in the Departments of Pathology and Neuroscience at Johns Hopkins Medicine, directs research programs in the field of neurodegenerative diseases, including ALS and FTD. Wong has developed novel mouse models to examine the pathophysiology of these neurodegenerative diseases with the goal of identifying therapeutic targets that would ultimately lead to effective therapies. Wong’s recent efforts are designed to clarify the biology and pathophysiology of TDP-43, particularly the loss of cryptic exon repression in ALS and FTD, as well as to develop an AAV gene therapeutic strategy and functional TDP-43 dependent biomarkers for these devastating illnesses.
